The Ukrainian Radio Program
On August 15, 1950, the Ukrainian radio program of Pittsburgh, began its vital
service to the Ukrainian-American community in the tri-state area. It is heard
each Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on radio station WPIT, 730 AM, with a power
output of 5,000 watts. The program is presented in Ukrainian and English and
features music, news, commentaries, social announcements, anniversaries,
commercials and obituaries. Its primary objective is to maintain the
Ukrainian identity of its listeners through music, language and traditions.
