Ridna Shkola Mission Statement

(taken from the By-Laws of Ridna Shkola of Pittsburgh - January 30, 1973)

The purposes of (Ridna Shkola), as set forth in its Articles, are to:

• nurture and maintain Ukrainian culture and identity through the teaching of Ukrainian history, language, and the arts;
• cultivate an appreciation of the Ukrainian heritage in children and youth of Ukrainian descent; to operate and maintain in western Pennsylvania a school of Ukrainian studies;
• provide an enriched environment for children and youth of Ukrainian descent through the exploration and mastery of another culture and tradition so as to promote a strong identification to the culture and tradition beloved by their parents and grandparents;
• and prepare curriculum materials for use by other schools of Ukrainian studies.
